The Greater Austin YMCA is seeking a Temporary Aquatics Coordinator to support the Aquatics Director in managing daily operations, staff supervision, and program delivery for our aquatics department during the busy summer season. We are looking for candidates who are available to work 40 hours per week and have flexibility with scheduling, including evenings and weekends. This seasonal position begins in May and will conclude in September.

How You Will Make An Impact

- Assist in providing high-quality member experience in programs and operations.
- Support in communication towards members for programs and operations.
- Assist in addressing complaints and resolving problems.
- Aid in the marketing and distribution of program/operations information.
- Works with the Aquatics Director to assist in conducting performance appraisals, rewards, and discipline.
- Monitor program registration, prepare the necessary paperwork, and return phone calls and e-mails as needed.
- Oversee program implementation and quality.
- Update pool availability in Motion Vibe for pool space needed for lessons.
- Compile program reports and statistics.
- Assist in processing employment paperwork.
- Assist with lifeguard/swim instructor scheduling, help secure substitutes, assist with and conduct staff orientations, and assist with staff communications.
- Monitors and updates all required staff certifications.
- Assist with pool maintenance, determined by Aquatics Director.
- Update pool availability in Motion Vibe for pool space needed for lessons.
- Ensure swim lesson instructors follow the curriculum and use swim lesson skill progress trackers.
- Ensure swim lesson instructors provide progress trackers, report cards, and certificates to participants.
- Evaluate the program and Instructors on a quarterly basis.
- Lead monthly in-services for swim Instructors.
- Lead and manage swimming programs with the help of Lead Staff.
- Attend and assist with the planning and execution of required meetings, in-services and/or training.
- Assist with ongoing supervision and training of aquatics staff.
- Train, develop, and support swim lesson instructors.
- Monitor and update all required staff certifications, keeping them on file in the Aquatics Office
- Handle complaints and employ conflict resolution techniques to resolve any issues
- Audit staff to ensure the continued quality of the swim lesson program.
- Ensure all swim lessons Instructors get YSLI V6 certified within 3 months of employment.
- In partnership with the Aquatics Director, you'll help ensure programs meet the minimum number of participants.
- Relevant experience, certifications, and practical skills in aquatic programming and management.
- Two to three years of professional experience, with a focus on aquatics and previous experience in supervising and leading teams.
- Current BLS (CPR-PRO), First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, Lifeguard, and/or Swim Instructor certifications.
- Must be able to obtain CPO within 3 months.
- YLGI, YSLIT certifications preferred
