What are the responsibilities and job description for the PSR - Patient Service Representative / Financial Counselor position at Greater Chicago Center for Advanced Surgery?
Greater Chicago Center for Advanced Surgery is seeking a full time Patient Service Representative. Position is M-F with no weekends. Hours may vary and flexibility required. On surgery days, start time can be early ~ 6am, end times may also be later on alternating days with other PSR . This position reports to the Front Desk Coordinator.

Overview: Provides administrative functions including, but not limited to: scheduling surgeries, patient registration, creating patient estimates and discussing with patients, chart preparation, daily balancing, greeting and transporting patients, answering the phone general administrative duties, maintaining a clean facility environment, and maintaining supplies.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Schedules patients for surgery and coordinates with physician offices
· Evaluates /reviews patient's insurance benefits to determine out of pocket responsibility(Must have general knowledge of how to read insurance benefits and must be comfortable explaining out of pocket responsibility )
· Create reconcile daily cash logs of payments received
· Multi-task duties with the alternate front desk on busy surgery days such as answering calls, check in patients, answering the delivery door, ensuring family comfort, ect.
· Prepares all necessary documents for patients to complete.
· Creates new patient charts and pulls existing charts as needed.
· Files documents and charts while maintaining a pre-determined, organized medical record format.
· Maintains the confidentiality, security, and physical safety of patient medical records.
· Interacts with physician/office personnel in a friendly manner.
Other Qualities:
· Excellent Communication Skills, both verbal and written
· Billing Experience a plus (understanding deductibles, coinsurance, out of pocket mas, etc.)

Job Requirements
- Education: High School required, Associates or Bachelor's a plus!
- Previous experience (billing, surgery scheduling or Front Desk) required
- Previous ambulatory surgery center experience preferred, but not required
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
