Position: Building Substitute Teacher
Reports to: Harrison Junior School Building Principal

We are seeking a Building Substitute Teacher for the 2024 - 2025 school year and beyond to join our team at Harrison Junior School.

Job Summary: The Substitute teacher will report every school day and be placed into a teaching assignment or be given duties around the building if no classroom position is needed. Alternate duties may include providing intervention/enrichment to small groups of students, supervision duties, or any other task deemed necessary throughout the day.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Provide best practice instruction.
  • Establish clear standards of student conduct and maintain an orderly, productive classroom environment.
  • Teach content and skills in the subject area according to the state standards and district curriculum maps, guides, etc.
  • Encourage students to think independently and to express original ideas.
  • Maintain professional competence through in-service educational activities provided by the district and/or in self-selected professional development activities.
  • Attend staff meetings when possible.
  • Perform other tasks/duties as assigned by the building administrator.
Qualifications/Characteristics:
  • A positive and enthusiastic attitude - We have to work together as a team.
  • Enthusiasm for the subject matter and content areas is important as well.
  • Good communication & teaming skills.
  • Good organization skills.
  • Be a team player.
  • Flexibility- Expect the unexpected. The candidate needs to have to ability to be prepared when the daily schedule/routine is interrupted.
  • Proper certification required.
Education and Experience:
  • Hold at least a substitute teaching license (4 year college degree needed).
  • Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university. Degree in education definitely a PLUS!
  • Certification/License in education a plus (Ohio State Certification as a Teacher).
