POSITION: Custodian
REPORTS TO: Director of Facilities or Designee
EMPLOYMENT STATUS: Full-time, 257 days, 40 hours per week, FLSA Non-Exempt
QUALIFICATIONS:
The custodian maintains a clean working environment for all students, staff and visitors, ensuring all areas are safe. This work will be completed according to required safety processes to support the achievement of the district’s mission and vision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Salary range from: Starting at $18.67 per hour
Appropriate placement on the Board approved Salary Schedule determined by education and experience.
Base contract is: 257 Days

QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Demonstrates knowledge of proper cleaning and other custodial techniques
- Demonstrates ability to operate maintenance equipment (snow plow, salt spreader, hydraulic lift and various hand tools)
- Demonstrates ability to interpret and communicate information found on Safety Data Sheets
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong organizational and technology skills
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Hold a valid Ohio Driver’s License
The custodian maintains a clean working environment for all students, staff and visitors, ensuring all areas are safe. This work will be completed according to required safety processes to support the achievement of the district’s mission and vision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Cleans and sanitizes bathrooms
- Cleans, mops, washes, buffs and vacuums floors
- Empties trash
- Removes recycling materials
- Maintains outside walk areas, including sweeping debris and washing walkways
- Maintains grounds by keeping them free of rubbish
- Cleans and polishes fixtures
- Tracks supplies and recommends orders to Warehouse Clerk
- Cleans windows and doors
- Dusts and vacuums furniture
- Complies with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas
- Assumes responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day and for determining, before leaving, that all doors and windows are secured, and all lights, except those left on for safety reasons, are turned off.
- Moves furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities
- Removes snow and ice when needed, shovels and salt walks, driveways, parking areas and steps as appropriate

- Serves as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings.
- Demonstrates a willingness to acquire knowledge and skills to meet new challenges
- Maintains up-to-date knowledge of technology utilized by the district
- Is punctual and thorough in the implementation of assigned duties
- Takes precautions to ensure staff and student safety
- Maintains confidentiality of student information and records
- Performs all other duties as assigned by the Superintendent or designee
- Occasional: Exposure to blood, bodily fluids and tissue, lifting (10-20 pounds) of supplies and materials. Duties may require exposure to adverse weather conditions and seasonal temperature extremes.
- Periodic: Exposure to loud noise, extreme temperatures from program environment, irritating and hazardous chemicals, fumes, and unruly children and adults.
- Frequent: Prolonged periods of sitting, bending, stooping and reaching for items. Duties may require traveling to purchase supplies and working under time constraints to meet deadlines.
- Follow all Board safety rules and procedures.
- Participate in the school safety training when requested.
