Job Summary: The Junior School Athletic Director (AD) at Harrison Junior School will oversee the planning, organization, and administration of the school’s athletic programs. The AD ensures that all sports programs align with the school’s mission of Academic and Social Growth, promoting a positive and inclusive environment that supports student-athlete development, academic achievement, and sportsmanship. This is a supplemental position requiring attendance at games and events in the evenings and occasional weekends.

Responsibilities:

Program Oversight:
- Coordinate and supervise all athletic programs for grades 7-8.
- Ensure compliance with school, district, and state athletic policies and guidelines.
- Oversee the scheduling of games, practices, and tournaments for all junior school athletics.

Budget and Resource Management:
- Develop and manage the athletic department’s budget, ensuring resources are allocated effectively.
- Coordinate with school administration to secure funding and manage expenditures.
- Oversee the maintenance and inventory of athletic equipment and facilities.

Staff Supervision and Development:
- Recruit, hire, and evaluate coaches for all junior school athletic teams.
- Promote a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement among staff.

Student-Athlete Development:
- Foster a positive environment that supports the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of student-athletes.
- Ensure student-athletes meet academic and behavioral standards set by both SLSD and OHSAA to participate in sports.

Communication and Community Engagement:
- Serve as the primary liaison between the school, parents, and community regarding junior school athletic programs.
- Communicate regularly with stakeholders to promote events, achievements, and updates.

Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure all student-athletes have completed necessary Final Forms and have up to date physicals.
- Support the athletic training staff in implementing and enforcing safety protocols, including concussion management and emergency procedures.
- Stay updated on state and national athletic policies, including Title IX regulations.

Education and Experience:
- High School diploma required.
- Experience in schools, finance, or other administrative work recommended.
- Valid certificate/ license as issued by the Ohio Department of Education if necessary.
Other Skills and Abilities:
- Previous experience in athletic administration, coaching, or teaching at the middle or high school level.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and the community.
- Knowledge of middle school athletics and Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) regulations.
