GCRTA has a great opportunity for Senior Counsel, Labor, Employment and Administrative Law to join our Legal team!
Duties :
Supervises and manages the operation of the Labor, Employment and Administrative Law Section of the Legal Affairs Division. The Labor, Employment and Administrative Law Section is responsible for :
- Representing the Authoritys interests in labor arbitrations and in matters before state and federal administrative agencies. Some litigation work in court may be required.
- Providing legal assistance to Human Resources and various departments on labor and employment matters.
- Providing legal support, as well as advice and counsel, to various departments within the Authority and to the Board of Trustees.
- Drafting and reviewing Board resolutions.
- Handling public records requests and subpoenas.
- Serving as a resource for and providing legal assistance to the Authoritys Office of Equal Opportunity.
- Conducting legal research and preparing legal opinions on public sector legal issues, including but not limited to, public transit and statutory compliance with federal, state and local laws.
- Conferring with state and federal agencies for guidance and monitoring federal, state and local legislation affecting GCRTA
- Performing other duties of a similar nature as may be required.
- The Senior Counsel will be responsible for promoting the handling all legal matters thoroughly, efficiently and in a timely manner. Written work products must be of the highest quality. May be assigned to serve on Authority committees and review panels.
Minimum Requirements :
Salary will be commensurate with experience. Salary Range $115,000 - $134,340

Environmental Conditions : This person will work predominantly in an office type environment

Mental Demands : Reading, studying focused listening, auditing, inspecting, proofreading, and evaluating. Ability to give, receive and analyze information and prepare written materials. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data. Ability to demonstrate a high degree of emotional intelligence.
Selection Process : This is a non-bargaining exempt position. Merit system rules do not apply. No Eligible list will be established. The selection process will include one or more components to demonstrate applicants knowledge, skills and abilities in job related areas. These may include exercises such as practical demonstrations, written communications, oral interviews and / or competency assessments.
