Description

General Position Summary: Blueprint to Homeownership is a new service powered by Greater Des Moines Habitat for Humanity. It is an independent, nonprofit program designed to build confidence, knowledge, and hope in first-time homebuyers in Central Iowa.

Our Services: Blueprint to Homeownership helps future homeowners build the skills and confidence they need to begin or make the next steps on their unique pathway to homeownership:

  • Personalized, one-on-one guidance.
  • Trustworthy, unbiased information about their next steps to homebuying, including education opportunities, potential down payment assistance, grants and more, in collaboration with partner organizations.

Our Unique Approach: Unlike other entities involved in the homebuying process, Blueprint to Homeownership has no vested interest in any home sale. This allows us to offer an objective perspective, helping first-time homebuyers identify their unique path to homeownership—we call this plan a personalized blueprint.

Our Impact: By the end of their journey with Blueprint to Homeownership, our direct-service clients will have the knowledge and confidence to move forward on the path they’ve outlined with their homebuying counselor. Many more prospective homebuyers will be able to self-serve through accessing a variety of helpful information and online or in person information and learning opportunities highlighted by the Blueprint to Homeownership.

Community Connector Role: The Community Connector is the public face and voice of Blueprint to Homeownership. This individual will engage in strategic outreach, build and sustain relationships, and foster collaboration with those committed to helping more Central Iowans achieve homeownership. Special emphasis will be placed on relationships that benefit first generation homebuyers and other underserved groups.

Core Responsibilities

  • Relationship Building: Develop and maintain relationships with organizations, coalitions, working groups, and individuals who are invested in first-time homeownership, such as non-profits, lenders, places of worship, coalitions, and professional organizations. Focus on meeting or exceeding goals for the number and type of meetings, especially with those dedicated to helping historically underserved populations achieve and maintain homeownership.
  • Support and Collaboration: Assist Blueprint to Homeownership counseling and coaching staff by monitoring the future Blueprint to Homeownership website content and postings. Collaborate with appropriate staff and community partners to ensure that shared information is timely, relevant, and reaches target audiences.
