What are the responsibilities and job description for the Events Ambassador position at Greater Des Moines Partnership?
BASIC FUNCTION:
The Onsite Event Ambassador is an individual that provides support to events team throughout the year. This person is onsite at Downtown Des Moines (DSM) Events; including but not limited to the Downtown Farmers' Market, Out to Lunch, World Food and Music Festival and the Winter Market. The Onsite Event Ambassador is a positive, self-starter and proven team player with interpersonal skills and expertise to work with multiple stakeholders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Provide onsite support during agreed upon Downtown events, including the Downtown Farmers' Market, Out to Lunch, World Food and Music Festival and Winter Market.
- Must be able and willing to set up tents, tables, banners, and other on-site supplies with a smile.
- Must be organized, dependable, friendly, helpful, intuitive, and able to be on site at Downtown events.
- Greet and train volunteers.
- Organize and set up Information booth, programs and sponsor booth materials.
- Communicate with and assist event Sponsors, Vendors, Entertainers and patrons.
- Assist Events Team in accomplishing event production, projects and tasks.

- Ability to create and activate comprehensive, detailed project and event plans including a variety of partners in a collaborative way.
- Events and sponsor activation experience.
- Strong communicator that is detail and process oriented.
- Strongeventplanning and scheduling abilities.
- Flexible and adaptable style.
- Highly self-motivated.
EXPERIENCE:
- Experience working with events & project management is preferred.
- Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 products, preferred.
- Written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience in interacting with the community.
AMBASSADOR POSITION TERMS:

Position available yearly for all Downtown Events. Specifically in the summer looking for ambassadors on these dates:
- Downtown Farmers' Market: Saturday, May - October, 5 a.m. to 1 p.m. (6 a.m. to 1 p.m. in October)
- Winter Market: Friday - Sunday in Nov.
- World Food & Music Festival: Friday - Sunday in Aug. Hours vary, with shifts including set-up days prior
- Out to Lunch: Wednesday's over the lunch hour
