What are the responsibilities and job description for the Warehouse Associate/Pick-up Driver position at Greater Florence Habitat for Humanity ReStore?
Position Purpose
This Associate may be called upon to perform any of the ReStore operations from helping to coordinate the receiving of donations, acting as a floor assistant and picking up donated items. This individual must work well with customers, co-workers, and volunteers and demonstrate a willingness to help and provide exceptional customer service. This individual must have a good understanding of Habitat for Humanity and act as an ambassador of the Habitat mission.
Requirements
This individual will be working in a setting that is constantly physically demanding. Must possess a clean driving record, the ability to lift up to 75 pounds, and the ability to drive an 18-foot box truck (CDL license not required).
Qualified candidates must also possess strong problem-solving skills; the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment and maintain a professional demeanor when working with fellow staff, volunteers and the public; and the ability to multitask. Must be detail-oriented and able to work independently. This individual must understand and appreciate the mission of Habitat for Humanity. Tennis Shoes, work boots or steel toed shoes must be worn when working at the ReStore. NO SANDALS, FLIP-FLOPS, HEELS, SLIP-ON OR SLIPPER TYPE SHOES. No apparel that advertises drugs, alcohol, sex or violence can be worn. No spaghetti straps, tank tops or bare midriffs. Pants must be worn at the waist and all clothing must be free of rips or stains.
Physical Demands
Required to lift up to 75 pounds on a regular basis and will experience frequent bending, squatting, lifting and repetitive motion. This position will occasionally be exposed to extremes in weather (e.g., heat, cold, wind, rain, etc.).
Experience
A minimum of 1 year of related experience preferred.
Valid driver's license required.
Clean driving record required (driving record will be pulled at time of hire then annually each year in January).
Clean background report. (A background check will be pulled before being hired.)
Duties and Responsibilities
· Load and unload all donated materials.
· Distribute unusable merchandise to appropriate recycling bins, trash, or value trailer.
· Schedule and/or coordinate with front staff daily regarding pick-ups.
· When available, supervise volunteers in warehouse to make their time at GFHFH a meaningful experience.
· Drive GFHFH vehicles to pick-ups and load truck with donated merchandise.
· Oversee vehicle maintenance and letting Manager know of any problems that may arise.
· Load value trailer with items secured in bags and adhere to the requirements of our contract, plus letting management know how full trailer is and how close we need to set a pick-up date.
· Adhere to requirements set forth by Bush containers for items allowed to be disposed, letting management know when container is full and needs to be replaced.
· Be available for out of town pick-ups as needed.
· Ensure all merchandise is appropriately priced before sending to sales floor.
· Reports and coordinate inventory and ordering with manager on new light bulbs, paint and carpets.
· Operate Pallet jack/hand trucks when needed and in a safe manner.
· When needed answer phones and operate cash register, in as friendly a manner as possible.
· Daily cleaning of ReStore, to include donation area, warehouse and front of store when needed.
· Maintain furniture area in a neat and clean manner.
· Assist customers with loading and unloading of merchandise.
· Screen for merchandise usability when donors drop off or call in.
· Maintain warehouse in a neat and clean manner, organizing on a weekly if not daily basis.
· Assist customers find merchandise with great customer service skills.
· Separate metal for recycling and deliver to a designated company.
· Change marques sign out front as requested by management.
· Check all doors and vehicles for security purposes at end of day.
· General light maintenance of vehicles and building as needed.
· Check exterior of building for cleaning and maintenance.
· Ensure opening and closing procedures for building, vehicles, dumpster, value trailer and Bush container are followed.
· Any donations/drop-offs are brought in at end of day and put in correct location.
· All pick-ups are unloaded daily and brought into ReStore and secured.
· During inclement weather be available to secure property of GFHFH, vehicles and adhere to the Disaster procedures.
· Ensure appropriate safety gear is worn by all employees when going out on pick-ups.
· Ensure all supplies are on hand and updated in inventory and preforming to ensure a better for work at hand.
· Report any injury/accident to ReStore manager and make sure claim forms are filled out and given to the manager.
· Maintain vehicle maintenance logs, ensuring vehicle running safely.
