What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer SACC Staff position at Greater Green Bay YMCA, Inc.?
JOB SUMMARY
This position provides a safe environment and a quality experience for children ages 5-12 in an all-day summer program setting. It supports youth development through creative program planning and role modeling the Y's character development values while building strong relationships with the entire family.
The pay rate for this position is $15.00 / hr.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Establish positive rapport with children, parents, program staff, school or site administrators and their staff (principals, teachers, secretaries, church administrators, custodians, etc.).
Cooperate and coordinate with lead staff in the planning, supervision, and implementation of all program activities.
Interact and participate in all activities with the children, be it indoor, outdoor, field trips, sports, crafts, free time, etc.
Provide a warm, caring atmosphere for children ensuring that all of them are treated equally with dignity and respect.
Assist in maintaining all equipment, supplies, snack inventories, appearance, and cleanliness of the program space in accordance with the school / site Formal Agreement.
Ensure the safety and whereabouts of all children and that safe conditions exist at all times.
Assist in maintaining all of the children's records / files and keep them in a designated "staff only" location along with medications, first aid supplies, etc.
Assist in ensuring all licensing requirements are being met & accurately complete required forms (i.e. fire / safety checklist, medical log book, accident forms, sign in / out sheets, etc.).
Implement and maintain the YMCA discipline program that will clearly identify to the children what behavior is and is not acceptable.
Attend all staff meetings and required training sessions per licensing.
Act according to facility protocol to ensure safety of all staff and children which includes :
Adhere to policies related to boundaries with staff and children.
Attend required abuse risk management training.
Report suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
Follow mandated abuse reporting requirements.
Ensure children are properly signed in and out, ensure only authorized adults are allowed in the facility, etc.
Ensure unused rooms and closets remain locked, routinely monitor high-risk locations (locker rooms and bathrooms), etc.
Exemplify the YMCA values of CARING, HONESTY, RESPECT, and RESPONSIBILITY in all aspects of job performance and in relationships with others.
Assume all other duties or responsibilities that may be assigned.
SKILLS AND TRAINING
Must be at least 18 years of age and have completed high school or its equivalent as determined by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
Must have satisfactorily completed one non-credit department-approved course in early childhood education or complete this training within 6 months after assuming position.
Must have good communication skills and be able to relate well to children, adults and school / site staff.
Certification in CPR is required within the first 30 days of employment.
A health examination must take place 1 year prior to or within 30 days after beginning work and shall indicate the following :
Person is free from illness detrimental to children, including tuberculosis.
Person is physically able to work with young children.

Physical Requirements : As a safety responder, the ability to crouch, stoop, kneel, move quickly, and / or lift at least 30 pounds will be necessary.
