POSITION SUMMARY:
Seeking a dynamic and committed Camp Coordinator to develop, plan and implement challenging, daily activities for groups of children ages 2-17. Provide staff supervision and leadership through the camp day to assure a safe and enjoyable experience for all. Ensure all activities and events are reflective of the YMCA’s mission and promote character values including Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility.
Shift Available: 6:45am-12:30pm, 12pm-6pm
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Develop activities for group of children ranging from 2-17 years of age and ensure participation in safe activities at all times.

Self-motivated to plan and implement program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values. Activities include, but are not limited to, field trips, arts and crafts, nature walks, indoor/outdoor games and general recreation.

Adheres to program standards including safety, risk management and cleanliness standards.

Assist with training and supervising PT staff and volunteers.

Attends staff meetings and trainings.

Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.

Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.

Model healthy eating behaviors and active participation in accordance with Healthy Eating and Physical Activity (HEPA) Standards.

Accepts other duties as deemed appropriate within scope of position.
QUALIFICATIONS:

Must be at least age 18.

High school graduate or equivalent; one year or more of college preferred.

Previous experience working with children preferably in a day camp setting.

Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: outdoor living, camping, arts, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.

CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, Child Abuse Prevention and Sexual Harassment training prior to first day of hire.

Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

Ability to work long hours with positive attitude.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
- Ability to plan, lead and participate in a range of activities in a variety of outdoor/indoor settings. Outdoor temperatures may exceed 90 degrees.
