Greater Lakes Mental Health is a key component of MultiCare’s Behavioral Health Network, providing mental health and substance use disorder treatment for over 10,000 individuals annually across Pierce County. Providing services for adults, children, and families with Medicaid coverage, Greater Lakes offers 6 convenient mental health care locations including a 16-bed inpatient facility covering medically necessary voluntary and involuntary services to adults. Our experienced teams, veteran nurses, and robust training plans are designed to support your success and growth in facilitating recovery-oriented and trauma-informed treatment.

FTE: 1.0, Shift: Day, Schedule: Tuesday - Friday, 8a-6p

The primary goal of the Lakewood Police Department (LWPD) Behavioral Health Contact Team (BHCT) is to provide emotional support and community resources for residents of Lakewood who have experienced some form of law enforcement contact. Services include providing short-term contact, preferably face-to-face, to assist individuals in identifying what their immediate needs are, and to empower them with the resources to bring some resolution to their current difficulties. A variety of recover-oriented modalities are utilized including strength-based assessment, crisis counseling, and reality based problem-solving. The BHCT is comprised of a full-time LWPD Commissioned Officer.

Position Summary

The Crisis Therapist plays a key role on the Behavioral Health team at MultiCare, providing crisis intervention and evaluation that meets the unique needs of consumers and their families. From performing interventions to making referrals for inpatient or outpatient care, your position will offer you the capacity to help individuals every day.

Responsibilities

  • You will manage the mental and emotional health of each consumer as needed in coordination with the allied providers
  • You will complete risk assessments
  • You will develop safety plans with consumers and their natural supports as needed
  • You will screen and refer patients with drug and/or alcohol problems
  • You will coordinate ongoing inpatient psychiatric care for voluntary patients
  • You will determine the need and facilitate requests to the Designated Crisis Responder when an involuntary detainment evaluation is indicated
  • You will represent MHS and Behavioral Healthcare to community groups or individuals representing health care or mental health services

Requirements

  • Master's degree in a related field
  • A Mental Health Professional as defined within HB 1724:
  • An individual practicing within the mental health professional's statutory scope of practice who is:
  • (a) A psychiatrist, psychologist, physician assistant working with a supervising psychiatrist, psychiatric advanced registered nurse practitioner, psychiatric nurse, or social worker, as defined in this chapter and chapter 71.34 RCW;
  • (b) A mental health counselor, mental health counselor associate, marriage and family therapist, or marriage and family therapist associate, as defined in chapter 18.225 RCW; or
  • (c) A certified or licensed agency affiliated counselor, as defined in chapter 18.19 RCW;
  • Previous Crisis experience preferred
  • Ability to work flexible shifts including nights
  • Current Washington state driver’s license and proof of a safe driving record (which meets established MultiCare Standards) obtained by a motor vehicle report from the appropriate state

Pay and Benefit Expectations

We provide a comprehensive benefits package, including competitive salary, medical, dental and retirement benefits and paid time off. As required by various pay transparency laws, we share a competitive range of compensation for candidates hired into each position. The pay scale is $36.51 - $52.53 USD. However, pay is influenced by factors specific to applicants, including but not limited to: skill set, level of experience, and certification(s) and/or education. If this position is associated with a union contract, pay will be reflective of the appropriate step on the pay scale to which the applicant’s years of experience align.
