On Demand Driver - Operator
Job Summary
Operate up to a SUV to a small bus vehicle in demand response service to people with disabilities, senior citizens and children. Operators serve as GLTA’s ambassador to the public. All operators will report to, be supervised by and receive instructions from the Executive Director and the on-duty dispatcher.

Qualifications
l Driving record with less than two violations and zero at-fault accident convictions in last five years.
l Knowledge of the Lapeer and Genesee County service area.
l 21 years of age.
l Must possess or acquire a Valid Michigan Driver’s License with a clean driving record, as well as the ability to obtain a Chauffeurs License.
l Must pass a pre-employment physical.
l Must pass a pre-employment drug test.
l Visual acuity of 20/40 in each eye with corrective lenses.
Job Duties
l Operate a car, minivan, SUV up to a small bus vehicle for passenger pickup.
l Keep vehicle interior and exterior clean and maintain aisle way without obstruction.
l Must work well under stress.
l Ability to work in a fast pace environment & make quick decisions.
l Must be flexible in daily schedule.
l Problem-solving skills.
l Operate transit vehicles according to all DOT safety and operational standards.
l Institute emergency procedures in the event of an accident or mechanical breakdown.
l Performs other duties as assigned.
Essential Functions
l Ability to interact and communicate with the public.
l Attendance.
l Punctuality.
l Drive vehicles to designated locations and safely board and deboard passengers.
l Collect and record fares.
l Conduct and record pre-trip and post-trip inspection.
l Ability to maneuver and secure mobility devices according to manufacturer’s specifications & Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA).
l Ability to kneel, stoop, bend frequently to assist passengers and perform vehicle inspection.
l Lift up to 50 pounds.
Education and Training
High school diploma or equivalent. Attend various training as designated by management.
