What are the responsibilities and job description for the Auto Collision and Repair Instructor position at Greater Lawrence Technical School?
Reporting to the CTE Coordinator, the Vocational Teacher’s role is to help students learn career area subject matter in accordance with educational frameworks and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible men and women.
*Teaches auto body skills and knowledge to provide students with the competence to be an economic asset to the employer.
*Instructs students in citizenship, basic communication skills, and other general elements of the course of study common to all teachers, as specified in state law, administrative regulations, and procedures of the school system.
*Develops lesson plans and organizes class time so that preparation, instruction, shop work, and clean-up activities can be accomplished within the allotted time following the curriculum adopted by the school committee.
*Demonstrates auto body materials, equipment, tools, and processes using standard or teacher-prepared models, mock-ups, sketches, and other instructional aids.
*Guides students in the selection and performance of appropriate activities.
*Provides individual and group instruction appropriate to the needs of the student(s) and the requirements of the activities being performed.
*Instructs students in the appropriate safety precautions and the safe operation and use of tools, machinery, and equipment.
*Controls the storage, maintenance, and use of materials and property to prevent loss or abuse.
*Evaluates student progress on a regular basis.
*Maintains accurate, complete, and correct records as required y law, school policy, and administrative regulation.
