What are the responsibilities and job description for the Director of Information Technology (IT) position at Greater Lawrence Technical School?
Reporting directly to the Superintendent-Director and Principal, the Director of Technology plans, develops, maintains, and implements the district’s network system in accordance with state and federal regulations. This position is scheduled year-round.

*Manage the school’s network system.
*Purchase, install, and configure the system server hardware and operating system as required.
*Manage LAN/WAN and Windows servers.
*Manage software and licensing for all software products and educational software.
* Purchase hardware and software upgrades.
* Establish and implement network policies, procedures, and standards for users and computers.
* Create and oversee the District Technology Plan as required by the Department of Education.
* Plan, develop, and maintain the software, hardware and procedural manuals for the information management systems.
* Conduct short-range and long-range planning studies in all areas of technology as needed.
* Administers all student management systems for the school district.
* Maintain and troubleshoot network infrastructure and connectivity related to equipment.
* Implement and manage a comprehensive backup procedure for all network assets.
* Responsible for preparing a district budget for all aspects of computer and technology systems.
* Select, evaluate and utilize appropriate computer and technology-based materials to support the instructional process.
* Facilitate and oversee District Technology Committee
* Remain abreast of developments and innovations in the field and be able to share such developments and innovations with the staff of the school district.
* Plan, develop, and implement professional training programs for administration, the Business Office, teachers, and staff, identifying, evaluating, and integrating emerging technologies to enhance overall education.
* Advise the Superintendent on legal matters pertaining to students as they relate to technology.
* Oversee and manage the system’s security with regard to anti-virus software.
* Provide support in establishing and setting up disaster recovery methods and infrastructure.
* Supervises and evaluates the Technology Department personnel.
* Provide oversight for the school website, including approval of all submissions, posting protocol and schedules; future planning including a site redesign and periodic updates.
* Work with administration in recommending overall operation and efficiency processes and/or equipment for the school’s security systems, including cameras and locks, electronic warnings, and restricted areas.
*Grant preparation assistance as required.
* Any other duties as required by the High School Principal and/or Superintendent-Director.
