What are the responsibilities and job description for the SY 2025-2026 Anticpated Vacancy- Wellness Instructor (Physical/ Health Education) position at Greater Lawrence Technical School?
The successful candidate will teach Physical Education and Health Education to students in grades 9–12. We are looking for someone who is a positive role model, exhibits effective classroom management, and can develop creative, innovative and relevant lessons in Physical Education and Health Education. The candidate should be comfortable teaching a variety of courses within PE and Health, be familiar with the Massachusetts Comprehensive Health Curriculum Frameworks, and demonstrate professionalism and respect when collaborating with students and staff. Additionally, the candidate will be responsible for parent engagement, professional development, and contributing as a team player within a collaborative department.
*Responsible for effective planning and assessment of PE and Health curriculum and instruction
*Establishes and maintains a supportive, engaging environment that is developmentally appropriate and aligned with students’ interests in both Physical Education and Health classes.
*Responsible for the promotion of high standards and expectations for student achievement and behavior
*Implements the district's mission, philosophy of education and instructional standards and objectives; fostering high expectations of achievement
*Identify and document students’ learning challenges and seek support from specialists as needed.
*Maintain accurate, complete, and correct records in compliance with legal requirements, district policy, and administrative regulations.
*Incorporate social-emotional learning (SEL) principles into daily lessons and routines.
*Establishes and maintains open lines of communication with students, staff, and parents concerning both the academic and behavioral progress of assigned students
*Promote equity and appreciation of diversity to ensure all students have equitable learning opportunities, including strategies for students with IEPs, 504 plans, or English learner needs.
