The Special Education Coordinator at Greater Lawrence Technical School ensures compliance with all special education regulations and timelines, facilitates the Individualized Education Program (IEP) process, and collaborates with staff, students, and families to support high-quality special education programming. This position oversees IEP meetings, manages compliance with federal and state special education laws, and works closely with stakeholders to ensure students receive appropriate services.

IEP Compliance & Development
*Ensure IEPs are developed following regulatory timelines and best practices, reflecting high-quality programming implemented with integrity.
*Maintain compliance with all special education timelines and regulations, including initial evaluations, annual reviews, and re-evaluations.
*Construct sections of the IEP in coordination with special education liaisons to ensure alignment with required standards.
*Facilitate all IEP Team meetings, ensuring appropriate Team member attendance and providing meeting summaries.
Program Development & Implementation
Communicate effectively with students, parents/caregivers, staff, and administration regarding program development and student needs.
Collaborate with teams to develop and implement efficient and effective service delivery models that reflect best practices in special education.
Serve as a consultant to staff on matters related to educating students with disabilities.
Transition Planning & Coordination
*Oversee the transition of IEPs from sending districts for incoming grade 9 and transfer students.
*Coordinate required transition paperwork, including but not limited to:
*Age of Majority notifications
*Transfer of Parental Rights documentation
*MassAbility referrals
*Chapter 688 referral process
Data Management & Reporting
*Maintain and manage data systems, including information collected through the District’s E-SPED software, to track service provision, initial referrals, and re-evaluations.
*Assist with SIMS state reporting to ensure accuracy and compliance.
Case Management & Consultation
*Serve as a case manager/liaison for students with disabilities, as needed.
*Meet regularly with the Director of Special Education for consultation and coordination of services.
*Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Special Education Director to support student needs, state regulations, and/or programmatic changes.
Salary : $63,311 - $109,760
