Position: Home Visitor
Supervisor: Regional Director
Location: OCDEAF (Cypress, CA)
Classification: Non-exempt, 50% PTE (20 Hours Per Week)
In collaboration with Every Family Home Visiting Collaborative (EFHVC), GLAD is expanding the reach of home visiting programs in Orange County to underserved deaf, hard of hearing, deafblind, and deaf disabled populations and to improve maternal and child health outcomes. The Healthy Families America (HFA) model provides parental guidance and coaching in the home of the participant and includes services such as pre- and post-natal care assessment, developmental screenings, post-partum depression screening, and child development. The primary function of the Home Visitor is to serve the families to provide home visits for parenting, developmental assessments, home safety, and case management services.
Essential Duties:
Under the supervision of Regional Director, the Home Visitor will:
1. Provide 5-6 home visits per week to families and “meet the family where they are”
2. Teach and model parenting skills in the home
3. Maintain emphasis on parallel process (home visitor to participant to child)
4. Assist families in identifying/accessing appropriate community resources
5. Maintain and ensure the accurate completion of case files, notes, and reports
6. Maintain accurate work and activity sheets, statistics, court reports/letters as required by program
7. Develop effective working relations with all individuals and agencies supporting the EFHVC
8. Maintain positive communications with all agency staff, families, and volunteers
9. Maintain high standards of quality for program services
10. Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
1. Bachelor’s degree is required. Degree in early childhood education or a related field is preferred
2. Fluency in American Sign Language and knowledge of deaf culture are required.
3. Experience working with or providing services to children and families; knowledge of infant/child development
4. Demonstrated ability to perform professionally. Punctuality and reliability are a must.
5. Ability to handle personal details, data and other private information. Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality.
6. Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational and written communication skills. Must prioritize and handle multiple tasks, sometimes with competing deadlines.
7. Excellent interpersonal skills are required. Must maintain a cooperative relationship with co-employees, directors, employers, outside vendors, and the CEO.
8. As business needs require, employee’s schedule may be adjusted to ensure coverage for Deaf Expos and other deaf outreach events that occur on weekends.
9. Be able to work independently, take the initiative and thrive under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
10. Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license and current automobile insurance as required by law.

Salary Range: $25 / hour ($26,000/ year)
