Position: Staff Interpreter
Supervisor: LIFESIGNS Scheduling Supervisor
Location: LIFESIGNS
Classification: Non-exempt, 100% FTE
Essential Duties and Responsibilites:
Under the supervision of the LIFESIGNS Dispatch Supervisor, the Staff Interpreter will
- Interpret assignments as delegated by the Interpreter Schedulers and/or for assignments that can range from:
- routine medical appointments,
- staff meetings at large companies,
- formal speeches (platform interpreting),
- press conferences or any other situation that requires communication access.
- educational, art, performances, and other situational assignments
- Assignments will depend on the interpreter’s level of interpreting skills.
- The staff interpreter will also record statistics monthly related to provision of services
- Location is based on the interpreter assignments. If the Staff Interpreter lives near TCGLAD office, that office could be their 'home base'. They work mainly out in the feild on assignments or virtually.
Qualifications:
- Applicants must possess assessment of one of the following:
- Level 4 or 5 NIC, NIC Advance, or NIC Master Level Interpreter Certificate
- American Consortium of Certified Interpreters (ACCI)
- National Association of the Deaf (NAD)
- Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf (RID) equivalent is required
- EIPA 4 with continuing training CEU credits
- Must have background knowledge of various laws and programs benefiting and protecting the human rights of deaf, hard of hearing and deafblind persons.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills and be capable of maintaining a cooperative relationship in an organizational team environment.
- Must maintain the highest level of confidentiality. Punctuality and reliability are required.
- Must be able to travel within entire service area.

The Greater Los Angeles Agency on Deafness is a private non-profit organization that was founded in 1969 and now has 13 locations serving 10 counties in Southern California.

Salary Range: $75,000-$80,000 yearly ($36.06-$38.46 hourly)
