POSITION SUMMARY:

Full Time Site Coordinator is responsible for the planning, execution and overall operation of a high-quality School Age Child Care site which will include promoting YMCA core values and encourage lifelong learning. The daily operations are to be consistent with the approved policies and procedures of the Association, YMCA of the USA and DEEC regulations. This position is responsible for providing community leadership for family/child development, leadership collaborations and be able to demonstrate high quality member service to both internal and external program participants, families, members, and volunteers to ensure member involvement, service and retention.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

·      Demonstrate and teach the character development values of caring, respect, responsibility and honesty.  Treat children with dignity and respect.  Recognize their individuality and diversity.

·      Be able to articulate all EEC regulations that apply to program. Ensure EEC Regulations are being followed at all times at site.

·      Develop, supervise and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum plan during before and after school, school vacation weeks, half days and other days off from school within Great Lowell Family YMCA’s School’s Out Framework: Centers, enrichment activities, indoor and outdoor time, physical activity, health and nutrition, and homework; with the YMCA Mission Statement foremost in planning consideration.

·      Plans, assigns, and directs staff and volunteer work. Monitor and communicate with supervisor all staff related EEC, QRIS, and YMCA requirements.

·      In programs with less than 52 children, provide direct care to a group of children to maintain ratio.

·      Establish a supportive and positive environment for staff, volunteers and the community.

·      Provide direction and guidance to staff, training and conduct staff meetings. Supervise site staff, document observations and feedback, and provide written evaluation of their work performance. Create Development Plans with measurable outcomes for direct reports. Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.   

·      Attend trainings and staff meetings as required.

·      Ensure proper maintenance of equipment, appropriate clean-up of work and play areas and inventory and order supplies and snacks.

·      Responsible for promotion, delivery and evaluation of a School’s out site. 

·      Builds relationships with and among families and members, responds to inquiries and solves problems.

·      Communication with parents, staff and supervisors is a critical element of the job.  Be available to parents during program hours to discuss concerns or issues that arise.  Prepare monthly newsletter/communication each month for parents.  Ensure all staff greet each child and parent each day as they enter and exit the program, ensuring they are providing a positive comment to each child. 

·      Effectively communicate with parents to ensure correct program schedule, timely payments are made, as well as resolving an outstanding balance with parents.

·      Communicate in a timely fashion with billing staff and deliver parent payments on Friday evenings. 

·      Submit required attendance weekly and EEC logs and reports monthly for administrative review.

·      Meet with School Age Program Director regularly and apprise of need to know information in a timely fashion.   

·      Maintain the necessary records involving attendance, program registrations and documents required for state licensing.  Collect and maintain records of all childcare payments.  Ensure that proper release procedures are followed, and appropriate identification is shown.

·      Promote the program and enroll the children into the program in order to meet budgeted enrollment numbers.  Attend back-to-school nights and hold at least two family events for your site during the school year.

·      Assist with ensuring a risk-free environment, i.e. caution people regarding unsafe practices and conditions.  Report accidents and injuries and complete incident reports and submit for administrative review.

·      Arrive on time and prepared for constant concentration and visual surveillance of program participants with no distractions.

·      Collect, analyze and use data to drive decision making.

·      Work closely with school personnel in coordination of the site, including transportation needs.  Meet regularly with school staff to share Y stories and build relationships.

·      Continually enhance professional development through workshops, educational courses (receiving needed pre-authorizations when required) and/or appropriate reading material.  Licensing requires the completion of a minimum of 20 hrs. training per year relevant to the care of school age children.

·      Perform other duties, as necessary.


QUALIFICATIONS: 

·         Site Coordinator must be at least 20 years of age

·         Must meet one of the following requirements by DEEC:  Must have a Bachelors’ degree in Child Development or
related field with six months of experience working with school age children; or Bachelor/ Associate degree in any field with nine months of experience in a school age setting; or High school diploma with one year of experience working with school age children.

·      The Site Coordinator must bring knowledge of the day-to-day operations of a high-quality School-age childcare site.  During the summer months, will be assigned to a summer camp leadership role.

·      Must be able to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social economic backgrounds.
