Key Responsibilities
- Provide support to individuals who have experienced a long-term inpatient stay at Rockland Psychiatric Center and are on the path towards reintegrating into the community
- Engage with individuals in the hospital, provide discharge readiness coaching, accompany individuals to appointments or into the community for skill building
- Providing referrals to referents (e.g., medical personnel, law enforcement) and to family members and significant others.
- Share their own personal recovery information as appropriate to role model and inspire hope.
- Participate in team, county and marketing meetings.
- Assist individuals in planning next steps.
- Maintain records of all contacts and completing all required paperwork.
- Other duties as assigned.
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Peer certification required, or must be obtained within 6 months of employment.
- Good organizational, writing and engagement skills required.
- Self-identify as a person who has first-hand experience with substance disorder issues and/or related behavioral health challenges.
- Be able to use this lived experience to support individuals in their recovery.
- Good computer skills (Microsoft Word).
- Experience working with a diverse population preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Must obtain and maintain Defensive Driver Certification within 30 days of hire
- Must maintain pre-employment clearances by applicable regulatory clearances as required.
- Must be legally eligible to work in the United States.
- Salary Range: $18.75/hr - $21.85/hr , based on departmental budget, qualifications, experience, education, and licenses. This range represents the agency’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.
