DSP (Direct Support Professional)

Responsibilities / Duties

***Sign on Bonus of $500 after 6 months of employment. ***

Supervises program participants in individual and small groups within center-based activities and on community outings. Leads center-based activities including arts, crafts, games, and social events. Assists program participants with developing and using a functional communication system to communicate needs and interact with others.

Utilizes technology and adaptive equipment to increase each person’s independent functioning. Drive participants to and from the center and community sites. Prepares daily activity and participant reports. Reports directly to Center Director and Administrative Services Coordinator.

Qualifications

Must be 18 years of age or older with a high school diploma or equivalent. Must accurately read and implement individual plans, medication instructions, etc. Must accurately record behavior of persons served and complete required forms. Must relate well with people with disabilities and elderly individuals with diverse backgrounds.

Must be qualified for employment in an Adult Day Care Facility as determined by the MN DHS. Must pass background checks as required by MSS, and/or state and federal law.

Must be able to assist adults with physical disabilities using methods identified as appropriate for a participant, and be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs. Must have/maintain a valid driver’s license, a clean driving record, and be insurable under the conditions set by our insurance carrier.

CPR Certification and First Aid training preferred, but will provide training. Prior experience with providing care to elderly individuals and/or recreational coordination a plus.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time

Pay: $15.00 - $17.00 per hour
