Job Title: Custodial Supervisor
Status: Full time 40 hours/week
Wage: $22-24/hr or more depending on experience
Hours: variable day hours and two on-call weekends per month
Probation: Subject to 12 month introductory (probationary) period
POSITION SUMMARY: Under the direction of the Facilities Director, the Custodial Supervisor will supervise the custodial staff, insuring that the YMCA facilities and property are clean and sanitized for all members, program participants, children and staff using any part of the facility. Duties will include overseeing, scheduling and training custodial staff, daily cleaning task and filling or working custodial shifts that are not covered. Additionally, the Custodial Supervisor will perform cleaning tasks such as regular floor maintenance and cleaning, deep cleans and other larger custodial tasks according to the needs of the facility and grounds. Must be able to thrive in an environment with the unique challenges of a non-profit, community service organization and have the flexibility to work in a constantly changing environment. Works with general supervision.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Manages, schedules and trains the custodial staff
- Makes sure shifts are filled and works shifts as needed
- Does a daily walk through for quality control and helps make sure the building, storage areas, health & wellness equipment and common areas are clean.
- Does cleaning tasks such as regular floor maintenance and cleaning, deep cleaning and other larger custodial tasks according to the needs of the facility and grounds and the direction of the Facilities Director
- Knows and implements all rules of sanitation of the facility and the childcare facilities.
- Identifies potential hazards around the facility that may be dangerous and corrects them or reports them to the Facilities Director.
- Knows and enforces emergency procedures and safety regulations in order to ensure participant safety.
- Responds cheerfully to requests for service and adequately responds to the interior and exterior needs of the facility and its equipment.
- Communicates with Facilities Director on any potential concerns related to the operation of the building.
- Has working knowledge of hazardous chemicals and other materials used in the facilities
- Responds appropriately to hazmat, fire, disaster and security situations.
- Provides assistance to members, providing information on rules and programs in a helpful and positive manner.
- Is friendly and makes positive connections with members and non-members.
- Adheres to the Mission of the YMCA at all times and implements the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility into the work performed at this facility and exemplifies them when interacting with members, non-members, and other staff members.
- Utilizing and creating work orders through online portal of Facility Dude.
- Completes required child sexual abuse prevention training and complies with legal and ethical obligation as a mandatory reporter of suspected child abuse and cooperates fully with any investigation of such abuse
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS: A minimum of two years related experience including management experience and direct custodial experience. Must have 2-3 years of managing experience.

- Occasionally must be able to lift and carry supplies and equipment weighing up to 75 pounds
- Frequently may require bending, leaning, kneeling and walking.
