Job Title: Preschool Child Care Assistant
Status: non-exempt, Y Job Grade 4
Wage: Assistants start at $16.00/hr or depends on experience
Hours: Monday - Friday, 7:30am - 6pm, various shifts (no weekends)
Departments: Y Development Center and Learning Center
Reports to: Childcare Center Director
Probation:Subject to a 12-month introductory (probationary) period
POSITION SUMMARY: We're building a second new pre-school facility, and we invite you to be part of something big! Whether you are new to the field or experienced, the Missoula Family YMCA is looking for team oriented, committed and compassionate people who love to engage and have fun with young children aged 5 months to 5 years. The Y offers a quality care learning environment for children, and training and professional development for our staff, all focused on creating a love of learning. We are hiring Child Care Assistants, either full time or part time, with the opportunity for advancement. The Child Care Assistant Teacher helps teachers in organizing and leading daily activities of infants, toddlers and pre-kindergarten children. They implement the program curriculum and environment, providing a high quality, developmentally appropriate experience to meet the needs of the children and families in the program. Applicants must be able to thrive in an environment with the unique challenges of a non-profit community service organization and work with limited supervision.

Requirements
Education/Certification
- Preferred – High school diploma or equivalent
- Preferred: Experience in a licensed childcare facility, or college level coursework in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or Psychology
- Required – Must have current CPR and First Aid or obtain within first 30 days of employment (available at the Y)
Experience
- Preferred – 1-2 years experience in child care or working with children
