What are the responsibilities and job description for the Mortgage Loan Originator position at GREATER NEW ORLEANS FEDERAL CREDIT?
Job Function/ Summary:
Originate portfolio loans, secondary market conventional, FHA, VA, and RD loans which are compliant with investor requirements and all State and Federal regulations. Promote credit union products and services to existing and potential members in the community.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Provides expert mortgage advice and loan options to potential borrowers- Stays current with all policies of the credit union including and not
limited to underwriting, applicable State and Federal laws/compliance
- Interview loan applicants to document income, debt, and credit history
- Takes a complete application and collects required documentation for verification
- Calls applicant to resolve discrepancies
- Determines if applicant meets established standards for further consideration
- Price loans accordingly and make adjustments
- Runs application through automated approval systems not limited to FNMA DU
- Inform applicant of approval, denial, or outstanding items needed to complete underwriting
- Delivers all compliance documents and disclosures in a timely manner
- Tracks and follow up on all leads
- Communicate effectively with members, team members, colleagues, third parties
- Guide potential applicants on the steps to becoming a Home Buyer
- Develops and maintains referral networks such as realtors, other real estate professionals, insurance agents, family and friends in the community
- Basic knowledge of mortgage servicing
- Time permitting networks outside the office, attends broker tours, seminars etc
- Consistently exceeding member expectations

Basic Skills and Requirements:
NMLS license- Exceptional work ethic

Knowledge:
Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel- Experience with FICS LOS or other LOS systems
- FNMA Desktop Underwriter and Pricing & Execution
- Knowledge of FNMA loan delivery and servicing, Finastra PowerManager, FICS Mortgage Servicer, and Symitar a plus but not required
Experience:
Three-year experience as a licensed MLO- Background in mortgage loan processing and servicing preferred
