Position Summary: Perform field inspections on commercial buildings.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Effectively evaluate property and casualty risks and controls for current and prospective policyholders.
- Describe insureds’ operations and procedures for mitigating property and casualty loss exposures.
- Verify building construction classification and assess condition of building components to include roof, mechanical, electrical, plumbing and fire protection for habitational and commercial properties.
- Evaluate premise liability and contractual risk transfer exposures.
- Effectively communicate risk reduction opportunities to insured stakeholders.
- Produce concise UW survey reports elaborating on critical findings and including practical recommendations.
- Collaborate with underwriters in coordination of renewal underwriting surveys and recommendation follow-up.
- Pursue professional development of skills, knowledge and abilities to include pursuit of relevant (ie. ARM, AIS) designations and industry knowledge.
- Participates in special projects and performs additional duties as required
Education and Experience:
- 1 year of experience evaluating property and casualty risks
- Experience presenting risk improvement opportunities in a manner that achieves customer buy-in and recommendation compliance.
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field including business, engineering, safety, risk management or 4 or more years’ experience working in insurance, risk management, property/construction management or a related field
- Possess familiarity with local and national building and fire codes.
- Excellent time management skills
- Professional attitude and superior people skills
- Ability to operate a vehicle with valid driver’s license in good standing
- Ability to climb stairs and/or ladders to investigate properties
