What are the responsibilities and job description for the Shipping Office position at Greater Omaha Packing Co.?
General Purpose:
Responsible for allocating orders in the distribution center, releasing work to the warehouse floor, and communicating work order status to sales. Utilize software to monitor equipment and picking. Call support when needed and be able to assist with problems. Assist with inventory tracking.
Essential Functions and Job Responsibilities:
- Evaluate orders, and contact sales if product shortages.
- Release work orders in the warehouse management software to the floor for picking
- Actively participate in continuous improvement projects and safety programs.
- Continually evaluate the effectiveness of systems and recommend changes where appropriate.
- Troubleshoot and correct systems problems
- May resolve product order shortages and communicate to sales.
- Follow the attendance policy, show up for work on time, and be ready to work the assigned shift.
- Other duties as requested
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Familiarity with the M.S. Office suite and a great computer skills
- Customer-focused attitude, with a high level of professionalism
- Excellent interpersonal and team skills for working with employees at all levels within the plant
- Attention to detail and accuracy while managing multiple priorities.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-oriented environment.
- Flexible and positive in a fast-paced Plant and business environment
- Available to work 2nd shift and overtime.
- Willing and capable of working Saturdays
- Must be able to relate to other people beyond giving and receiving instructions: they must get along with co-workers without exhibiting behavioral extremes; perform work activities requiring reasoning, negotiating, instructing, persuading, or speaking with others; and respond appropriately to criticism from a supervisor
- Quality experience desired. A high school diploma is required; some colleges preferred. Strong organization skills utilizing sound principles in leadership. Proven ability to train and motivate personnel. Must have a solid attendance record.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to write reports and business correspondence.
- The work environment is a combination of corporate and manufacturing. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to cold and/or humid conditions. The employee occasionally works near moving mechanical parts. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles, cold temperatures, risk of electrical shock, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is moderate.
