The major responsibility of the GO Intensive Housing Family Advocate (IHFA) is to act as a property manager while providing case management and support services to GO clientele living in our apartments. The position works as a liaison between GO and other community service providers to provide ongoing case management and referrals to our clientele. The IHFA follows the policies and regulations prescribed by local, state, and federal funding agencies, as well as those created by the GO Board of Directors. The IHFA must have the ability to work with tenants of varying ethnic, social, and economic backgrounds including those individuals experiencing chemical addiction, severe mental illness, and chronic homelessness. The IHFA must be able to comprehend the GOBC Housing Lease, communicate the information to tenants, and have the ability to enforce the rules and regulation within the lease. The IHFA must also demonstrate excellent organizational skills and have the ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. The IHFA must demonstrate the ability to organize and direct group activities pertaining to skill training in a variety of areas, including but not limited to, employment, budgeting, and life skills, etc.

Education and Experience:

Required:
1. High School diploma or GED and 10 years’ experience in human service..
2. Associate's degree (AA) and 7 years’ experience in human services.
3. Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) and 3 years’ experience in human services and/or training;
Preferred:
4. Equivalent combination of education and experience, preferred.
5. Experience with group counseling and/or life skills training preferred. CASAC certification preferred.

Supervisory Responsibilities: This job has no supervisory responsibilities

Duties/Responsibilities:

1. Accept applications from perspective tenant

2. Maintain a wait list in accordance with HUD and agency regulations

3. Screen applicants based on HUD guidelines and in accordance with our contract

4. Maintain confidential files

5. Process and perform annual certifications and inspections

6. Provide case management to clients on a consistent basis, including but not limited to, referrals, skill training, assessments, goal planning and supportive services as deemed necessary and appropriate

7. Provide consistent and timely documentation in case record, including computerized data bases as required

8. Collect rental payments on a monthly basis

9. Maintain rental records in collaboration with the fiscal department

10. Perform property inspections to maintain grounds at all buildings as needed

11. Submit requests as needed to the maintenance department for all repairs and general maintenance

12. Effectively communicate with residents on a consistent basis including, oral, written, and home visitations

13. Prepare legal documents as needed to facilitate the eviction process

14. Communicate with legal advisor as needed

15. Collect data and other pertinent information for development and maintenance of grant funding

16. Prepare a variety of reports for internal and external purposes

17. Ability to use web-based software programs and computer software programs

18. Ability to handle multiple tasks under pressure and respond appropriately in a crisis situation

19. Work as a liaison with community service providers to furnish needed referrals for clientele, as well as, organizing needed services


Required Skills/Abilities

1. Willingness and ability to work with individuals of varying socioeconomic, ethnic, and educational backgrounds.

2. Familiarity and working knowledge of community resources.

3. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Database software; Microsoft Excel Spreadsheet software and Microsoft Word Processing software.


Physical Requirements:

1. Regularly required to use hands to handle, or feel and talk or hear.

2. Frequently required to stand; walk and sit.

3. Occasionally required to reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.

4. Regularly lift and /or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

5. Required vision abilities include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
