Position Summary:
As an ILS Worker, you will provide one-on-one and group support to disabled individuals, teaching them practical skills to live more independently. This role is ideal for compassionate, patient, and resourceful individuals who are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of others.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement individualized lesson plans tailored to consumer goals.
- Teach skills such as budgeting, meal planning and preparation, household maintenance, personal hygiene, time management, and community navigation.
- Assist consumers with understanding and accessing local resources and services.
- Promote self-advocacy and decision-making in daily activities.
- Record detailed case notes and progress reports in compliance with program requirements.
- Collaborate with consumers, families, and team members to create effective support plans.
- Provide transportation assistance when needed to support participation in community activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all ethical and professional guidelines.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or a related field (preferred).
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to work collaboratively.
- Ability to teach and model practical life skills effectively.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license.
- Must pass a background check and meet any state-mandated requirements.
Preferred Skills:
- Knowledge of disability rights, community resources, and support systems.
- Experience in developing lesson plans or individualized support programs.
- Familiarity with documentation and reporting procedures in social services.
