About Us
The Greater Peace Community Development Corporation is dedicated to empowering youth by providing enriching opportunities for personal and professional growth. Our Summer Teen Workforce Development Program offers teens hands-on volunteer experience while engaging them in skill-building workshops. We are seeking a Summer Teen Workforce Development Coordinator to mentor and guide 10-12 teens through meaningful volunteer work while providing engaging instruction in personal finance, home economics, STEAM, public speaking, and career exploration.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise, mentor, and coordinate volunteer activities for 10-12 teens in the summer workforce program.
- Develop and lead engaging workshops on essential life and career skills, including:
- Personal Finance (budgeting, saving, credit basics)
- Home Economics (basic cooking, household management, meal planning)
- STEAM (hands-on science, technology, engineering, arts, and math activities)
- Public Speaking (confidence-building, presentation skills)
- Career Exploration (resume writing, interview prep, workplace skills)
- Coordinate with community partners and plan opportunities for them to come and speak to the students and/or the students to tour their businesses and offices.
- Track and evaluate teen participation, progress, and volunteer hours.
- Provide one-on-one mentorship and career guidance.
- Organize guest speakers, field trips, and hands-on learning experiences.
- Ensure a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment.
- Communicate with parents/guardians about program goals and teen progress.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education, Social Work, Youth Development, or working on a degree in a related field (preferred).
- Experience working with teens in an educational or mentorship setting.
- Knowledge of workforce development, financial literacy, or career readiness programs.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Ability to create engaging and interactive lessons.
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain if needed).
Schedule: June 3rd-July 11th/ 12:00 pm-5:15 pm/ closed Juneteenth and July 4th
