What are the responsibilities and job description for the Swim Lesson Instructor position at Greater Philadelphia YMCA?
POSITION PURPOSE
The Aquatic Instructor Aide is responsible for working in the water with an Instructor Team Member, assisting in conducting aquatic instruction for members and participants. Providing support and encouragement to assist students in learning to swim. Ensuring safety and cleanliness of pool area and adherence to all YMCA Aquatic Safety Standards at all times.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Provide a safe environment that allows members and participants to learn to swim.
Encourage and support students to provide an enjoyable aquatics experience.
Evaluate swimming skills; complete progress reports for each session; complete communications for parents.
Assist in the instruction of swimming skills and techniques in accordance with YMCA standards, under the direct supervision of a certified YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor
Participate as a part of the aquatics staff team in providing a safe and enjoyable environment.
Respect others by arriving on time and in accordance with schedule.
Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.
Communicate all pool rules and ensure that you are accessible and identifiable.
Pursue YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor certification Perform other related duties as assigned
ROLE SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS
15 years of age with successful completion of swimming skills test.
Pursue YMCA swim Lesson Instructor certification.
