Position Summary
Develops, plans, and coordinates the Active Older Adults (AOA) program. Facilitates activities and coordinates special events. Schedules and provides direction to Active Older Adult (AOA) group exercise staff.
Essential Duties
1. Plans, promotes, and implements the Active Older Adult (AOA) program.
2. Fosters relationships with participants; helps connect participants to one another, additional programs, and to become engaged within the Y.
3. Develops the program schedule and facilitates activities.
4. Develops and publishes the staff schedule and fills in for absences. Authorizes time sheets as per policy. Provides direction to staff. Coaches to ensure a high-level of performance. Enforces policies and procedures.
5. Recruits and supervises program volunteers. Enforces policies and procedures.
6. Plans, promotes, and coordinates special events and activities inside and outside of the facility, participates in branch special events, fundraising for the Annual Campaign, and membership campaigns.
7. Obtains approval and submits orders for program supplies. Maintains equipment, ensures cleanliness and organization of the program space.
8. Provides a safe environment for all activities. Enforces safety rules and reports/treats any injuries.
9. Evaluates program effectiveness and reacts to participant feedback. Initiates changes to improve the quality and safety of all programs.
10. Maintains required certifications and attends meetings and training sessions.
11. Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
1. At least 3 years of related work experience.
2. National Certification in Group Fitness Instruction (ACE, NETA, AFAA, NASM), certification in specific area of expertise, or YMCA of the USA equivalency certification within one year of employment.
3. Current CPR/AED & First Aid certification from the American Red Cross, American Heart Association, or American Safety & Health Institute (ASHI) preferred or obtained before beginning to work.
4. Strong communication skills with the ability to lead a team.
