AGENCY SUMMARY
The Greater Rochester Summer Learning Association (GRSLA) is a regional nonprofit exclusively focused on closing the achievement gap by increasing access to high-quality summer learning opportunities for City of Rochester three and four-year-olds. GRSLA engages partners as providers and funders, offers expertise and support to community-based programs and community partners, and advocates for summer learning as a solution for equity and excellence in education. GRSLA's work is driven by the belief that all children and youth in the Greater Rochester area deserve high-quality summer learning experiences that will help them succeed in school and in life.
- POSITION DESCRIPTION
As part of the outreach team, employee will support families and service providers in the successful registration and participation of EPK and UPK students in the six-week academic intervention and family support initiative. Activities and expectations include but are not limited to: establishing a strong supportive relationship with the family unit, establishing a supportive relationship with assigned program sites, be knowledgeable of existing community resources, assist in identifying, recruiting, and registering students, will work with assigned families as true partners ensuring their voice and presence is heard and felt in all aspects of the program.
RELATIONSHIP, RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Reports to agency Executive Director
- Establishes and maintains good working relationship with outreach staff, and related agencies and partners.
- Follow GRSLA’s program policies, procedures and standards.
- Acts as parent advocate.
- Collects all data needed for enrolling children and tracking them long-term.
- Manages caseload as assigned.
- Prepares reports as needed.
- Makes home, school, and neighborhood visits as necessary and appropriate.
- Completes all work in a timely manner.
- Attends scheduled meetings, parent’s meetings, trainings and program events as assigned.
- Continues to develop professionally.
- Performs all other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- BS in Social Work, Teacher Education, Early Childhood Education, or related field.
- Associate’s Degree plus a Family Development Credential.
- Experience working in a child care or educational setting.
- Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.
- Demonstrate ability to work with families.
- Demonstrate ability to work cooperatively.
- Good organizational and computer skills.
- Must have or be able to receive clearance through NYS Central Registry, good police record and good health.
- Valid NY State driver’s license and access to own transportation.
- A combination of education and experience other than specified may be accepted.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $40,950.00 - $42,900.00 per year
