Assistant Principal - Rutland Town School- The Greater Rutland County Supervisory Union is seeking a talented, motivated, and caring individual to serve as its next Assistant Principal at Rutland Town School. This individual will be expected to serve at the direction of the Principal as a strong instructional leader and manage the school environment guided by the SU’s vision, mission, and strategic goals. Applicants must possess the ability to enhance student achievement and work collaboratively with staff and other SU school administrators. The Assistant Principal is expected to promote a collaborative, positive, and professional climate for students, staff, and community members to be successful.

Supervision Responsibilities: Supervises and directs school programs, school personnel and student activities at the direction of the Principal
Purpose Statement
At the direction of the Principal, assume general responsibilities for the overall operation of the GRCSU school and for the quality of the educational programs provided for the student body. Provide leadership to program development and assessment which will assure student growth and achievement for all students.
This position reports to the Principal.

● Performs a variety of administrative duties to assist the Principal in managing the school including supervision and evaluation of
teachers and staff.

○ Hazing, Harassment, and Bullying investigations
○ Scheduling, and duties
● Assumes the duties of the Principal in the absence of the Principal and as assigned.
● Serves as a collaborative team member of the Crisis Team and school Leadership Teams.
● Attends parent meetings and provides supervision for afternoon and evening activities.
● Assists the Principal with VTCAP testing, summer school, ESY, and field trips.
● Participates in administrative meetings and training to improve administrative skills as directed; maintains current knowledge of the
district's curriculum and instructional practices.
● Commitment to proficiency-based learning and reporting, success for all learners, parent and community participation in school life,
and lifelong learning. Ability to lead conversations and professional development to promote understanding and adoption of
effective practices related to proficiency-based learning and reporting.
● Demonstrated skill set for facilitation, effective communication, collaboration, and engagement strategies that build understanding
and a community of purpose.
● Dedication to the high level of student and staff performance.
● Demonstrated understanding of school climate and its impact on student learning, and how to positively influence school climate.
