The Delivery Driver is responsible for making deliveries to Graeter’s local retail stores out of the Reading Rd facility. Deliveries are made on a predetermined local route. At each retail location, drivers are responsible for safely and efficiently offloading and loading their truck as needed. After completing the delivery route, drivers then return to the facility and assist in filling retail commissary orders. Additional planned pickups or deliveries may also be needed.

Expected Schedule:  Monday - Friday 3:30 AM - Noon and Saturday 3:30 AM - 5:30 AM

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Other duties may be assigned.   

Loading, securing and unloading product in company truck  

• Loads and unloads freight safely and efficiently and minimizes risk of damage to cargo and people. Where compatible truck docks are not present, the driver offloads by using rails engineered to allow bakery kits to roll down to street level.  
• Products and transport kits are labeled by store location, wheeled onto the truck and secured into place.   
• Drivers will work in cooperation with Graeter’s retail employees, inspect product for damage and ensure that all product delivered is correct.   
• Additional pickups and deliveries will be completed as need.   

Safely operating a Company Motor Vehicle  

• Drive safely to store locations while complying with all laws related to operating a Motor Vehicle and adhering to company policy. While most deliveries occur at the rear entrance, it is possible to encounter street, alley or parking lot deliveries.   
• Safe and timely transportation of freight from origin to destination   
• Professionally representation of company through responsible driving   
• Inspect truck for defects and safe operating condition before, during and after trips and document the condition of the truck via inspection log   
• Maintain records required for compliance with State and Federal regulations   
• Perform all duties in accordance with company policies and procedures, and comply with all federal, state and local regulations for the safe operation of a commercial motor vehicle   
• Report all accidents and/or incidents involving driver or company equipment   

Cleaning and general maintenance of Company Motor Vehicle  

• Maintain interior and exterior of vehicle and keep clean and neat   
• Driver will inspect and report on condition of vehicle and perform DVIR   
• Driver will clean and wash out trailers according to company SSOP   

Filling retail commissary orders  

• Accurately and efficiently use commissary order forms to fill retail orders   
• Restock inventory   
• Clean and reorganize warehouse areas  

Interpersonal Responsibilities  

• Communicates effectively with supervisors and team members.   
• Follows directions and takes constructive criticism from leadership.   

Competencies: 

•  Remain alert, focused, and detail-oriented   
• Maneuver and park a large vehicle   
• Obey all applicable traffic laws and drive according to weather/road conditions   
• Ability to load equipment and supplies into and out of vehicles   
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed   
• Ability to push, pull and maneuver rolling product kits up to 300 pounds at manufacturing or customer locations. Including ramps, streets and sidewalks with declines and inclines   
• Ability to regularly enter and exit the rear of Motor Vehicle truck with 24”-30” floor height    
• Have basic knowledge of main state routes and highway directions and competent with GPS or other mapping programs    

Work Environment:

The work environment that one will encounter while performing this job description includes the natural outdoor elements such as heat and humidity, rain and snow. The facility environment is one typical of a food manufacturing; characteristics include walk-in freezers, walk-in refrigerators, food production areas and warehouse. Environment also includes wet and slippery locations, stairs and freight elevators. Minimum Qualifications: 

• Experience operating a box truck preferred, but not required   
• Possess a valid Driver’s License and clean Motor Vehicle Record   
• High School Graduate or equivalent    
• Pass DOT physical, pre-employment background check and drug screen   
• Must be available to work additional hours as needed, including coming in early or staying late. Holiday seasons are particularly busy and will require additional hours.   
• Must have stellar attendance record
