What are the responsibilities and job description for the Floater/Teacher Assistant position at Greater Scranton YMCA?
We are looking for someone who can fill in for staff when out and to help with day to day activities. Some of the qualities we are looking for are:
- Provide a safe and nurturing environment for children to learn and grow
- Foster social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development through play-based learning
- Conduct assessments to track each child's progress and identify areas for improvement
- Collaborate with parents and guardians to support each child's individual needs
- Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment
- Ensure the health and safety of all children in the classroom
- Implement behavior management strategies to promote positive behavior
**Skills:**
- Strong knowledge of early childhood education principles and practices
- Ability to effectively communicate with young children, parents, and colleagues
- Experience in providing toddler care and implementing developmentally appropriate activities
- Knowledge of special education techniques and strategies for inclusion in the classroom
- Familiarity with childcare regulations and licensing requirements
- Excellent behavior management skills to create a positive learning environment
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the diverse needs of students
- Strong organizational skills to plan lessons and manage classroom materials
**Requirements:**
- Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education or related field preferred
- Previous experience working in a daycare or preschool setting
- CPR and First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
- Knowledge of physical education activities for young children is a plus
