What are the responsibilities and job description for the 2025 EXTENDED SCHOOL YEAR PRINCIPAL position at Greater Southern Tier BOCES?
Full-time position(s) (1.0 FTE), 8 hours per day
- Responsible for the supervision of personnel and students
- Maintain compliance with federal and state special education regulations
- Responsible for student discipline within the program and leading the staff with proactive behavioral management techniques
- Responsible for public relations
- Responsible for developing and maintaining relationships with teachers, students, district administrators, parents, and community agencies
- Communicate with administrators in component districts, staff, and parents
- Demonstrates effective leadership skills
- Demonstrates knowledge of Special Education regulations, specially designed instruction, graduation requirements, state testing requirements, common core curriculum, technology, transition services for students with disabilities
- Ability to lead/train other administrators
- Performs all other job duties as assigned
Job Qualifications
Valid NYS Certification of School Administrator/Supervisor (SAS) or School Building Leader (SBL); or individual seeking an internship opportunity in an educational leadership program (must qualify for a Certificate of Internship)
- Strong educational leadership in the areas of curriculum, program development and assessment
- Demonstrated success in promoting student achievement
- Decision-making skills and communication skills are significant to the job. Candidates must be knowledgeable of best practices in instruction and assessment. Candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability to function effectively as a team member and work collaboratively.
