Full-time (1.0 FTE), 8-hour day, 12-month, Competitive Civil Service Position
- Provides recommendations and creates requisitions on behalf of customer to purchase hardware and software.
- Works with systems personnel establishing user (customer) and operations communications procedures.
- Maintains & supports local area network (LAN)/wide area network (WAN) and regional telecommunication systems, telephone systems and/or regional electronic mail systems.
- Documents computer maintenance, and installs, through a help ticketing and inventory systems.
- Configures, installs, maintains, and supports software and peripheral equipment, including printers. Provides hardware and software maintenance, training, and technical support for varied programs.
- Provides end users first level support for LAN-based applications and provides customer support on networked applications.
- Assists with Security auditing, enforcement of best practices and creation of new security processes
- Supports end users in all areas of computer operations, communications, software, and hardware.
- Assists with the training of users in the operation of computers and software application use.
- Provides maintenance in a timely manner in response to user requests.
- Other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications
This is a competitive Civil Service position. The selected candidate must possess this title, be among the top three of a binding Civil Service Certificate of Eligible List for this title or be among the top three after taking the required Civil Service exam for this title.
- Assists with data classification work to ensure proper handling and security of data.
- Assists with security auditing, enforcement of best practices, and creation of new security processes.
- Assists with the training in the operation of computers and software application use.
- Configures, installs, maintains, and supports software and peripheral equipment, including printers; provides hardware and software maintenance, training, and technical support for various programs.
- Documents computer maintenance, updates, and installations through help ticketing and inventory systems.
- Establishes user and operations communications procedures with systems personnel.
- Maintains and supports LAN/WAN, regional telecommunication systems, telephone systems, and regional electronic mail systems.
- Provides first-level support for LAN-based applications and customer support on networked applications.
- Provides maintenance in a timely manner in response to user requests.

- Supports end users in all areas of computer operations, communications, software, and hardware.

- NOTE: The BOCES Computer Network Technology (Career & Technical Education) program and other programs from other states like the BOCES Computer Network Technology (Career & Technical Education) program have been deemed equivalent to the one-year business certificate program that includes computer coursework.
- Strong communication skills, both written and interpersonal, are required.
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment and manage the daily workload.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, maintaining, and supporting networked PCs and Windows-based servers is essential.
- Must possess working knowledge of Windows 10/11, Windows Server 2016/2019/2022, Hyper-V, Microsoft Office 365, and PC configuration. Ability to learn Microsoft online Management Portals.
- Experience working with Microsoft System Center - SCOM, SCCM, DPM.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, high logical reasoning, resourcefulness, sound judgment, tact, patience, and good physical condition are necessary.
