Position Description : At Greater State Bank, we help customers reach their dreams of becoming homeowners every day. We are searching for a qualified mortgage loan officer to guide customers through our mortgage application process. The loan officer will meet with clients to understand their goals and recommend plans that best fit their needs. The loan officer will gather and evaluate all necessary financial information, submit applications, and provide updates throughout the process. Objectives of this role
tHelp qualified borrowers successfully obtain mortgages
tEducate customers on mortgage rules and regulations, interest rates, and the application process
tAdvise customers, ensuring each is paired with a mortgage that best meets their needs
tWork as a cohesive team with loan processors and underwriters, collecting all documentation and information they need to process applications
tEnsure all deadlines are met, addressing and resolving all application issues in a timely manner
tCreate positive, lasting relationships with our clients and build a referral network
Responsibilities
tMeet with potential customers to evaluate their financial background and homeownership goals
tRecommend the mortgage plans that best align with customers backgrounds and needs, drawing on research and personal expertise
tCollect the financial documents and information needed to complete a mortgage application, performing research and conducting interviews as needed, and ensure that all information is complete and accurate
tResolve any application issues
tKeep an open line of communication with applicants throughout the process, providing updates and answering any questions that arise
tInform customers when their applications have been approved or denied
Skills and qualifications
tExcellent communication skills, both verbal and written
tEnthusiasm for providing customers with the best possible service
tUnderstanding of legal regulations as they pertain to mortgages
tAbility to make sound mortgage recommendations based on research, personal expertise, and customers financial backgrounds
tAbility to work collaboratively with loan processors and underwriters
tAbility to handle sensitive and / or confidential information professionally and discreetly
Preferred qualifications
tBackground in finance or accounting
tMortgage loan originator license
tWorking knowledge of loan origination software
tPrevious success in a customer service-oriented role
Physical Requirements
tSome pushing, pulling, lifting may be required
tSitting, standing, for long periods of time
