Production Operator

SUMMARY

Perform visual inspection of castings and operate trim press to remove excess material.

**DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES **

• Perform visual and dimensional inspection of castings using Statistical Process Control (SPC) techniques.
• Mark defects and discard defective castings into the designated scrap box.
• Operate trim press to remove excess material. Remove fins and other irregularities from castings using the chipper hammer, pedestal grinder, and hand-held grinders, if required.
• Adjust and change cutter head to proper specifications as necessary and record data on cutter head life.
• Arrange for machine repairs by contacting supervisor or Maintenance Department personnel, as necessary.
• May operate fork truck as needed.
• Utilize delay time constructively by doing housekeeping or other area improvement activities.
• Participate in area continuous improvement efforts including Employee Involvement activities.
• Personal attendance record should remain in compliance with company guidelines.
• This list is not all inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties as necessary. Able to work overtime as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

• Approach work assignments in a positive manner and function as a team member.

• Some experience preferred. Will train the right candidate.

• Requires decimals and fractions, drawings and formulas, adjustable measuring instruments.

• Judgment to perform work and make decisions as to setups and quality with continuous mental and/or visual attention.

• Moderate physical exertion. Able to lift up to 50 pounds if needed. Physical movement includes repetitive motion, with twisting, bending, and standing for most of shift.

• Must be willing and able to wear all required PPE. (Safety goggles, hearing protections, steel-toe non-slip safety shoes, and gloves when needed.)
