As a Layout Inspector, you will layout castings, tooling, fixtures, and gauges to determine dimensional accuracy compared to blueprint specifications.
What You'll Do:
- Perform layouts on castings of various sizes, shapes, and complexities.
- Verify layout lines to blueprint specifications and record results as required.
- Perform product assessment on critical casting dimensions to ensure compliance to print specifications.
- Perform tool wear review to determine wear characteristics on patterns and core boxes.
- Inspect and clean layout equipment at the beginning of the shift to ensure accuracy.
- Design specific fixtures and gauges to aid in the determination of casting dimensions and coordinate their construction with Pattern Shop.
- Check dimensions on cores, pattern and core box tooling, target fixtures, and other materials as directed.
- Periodically oil and clean layout equipment as required.
- Lock up all the equipment at the end of the shift.
- Utilize delay time constructively by doing housekeeping or other area improvement activities.
- Participate in area continuous improvement efforts including Employee Involvement activities.
- Personal attendance record should remain in compliance with company guidelines.

- High school diploma or equivalent with over one-year experience preferred.
- Requires advanced shop math, complicated drawings and formulas, variety of precision measuring instruments.
- Considerable judgment to plan, layout and perform difficult work and comply with instructions, follow methods, make minor decisions with continuous mental or visual attention.
- Light physical effort. Able to lift up to 50 pounds. Physical movement includes repetitive motion, with twisting, bending, and standing for most of shift.
- Must be willing and able to wear all the required PPE. (Safety goggles, hearing protections, steel-toe non-slip safety shoes, and gloves as needed when on the shop floor.)
