The Lead person's responsibility is to assist the department supervisor in the daily operation and production. Assist in the scheduling and training of all department personnel.
What You'll Do:
Complete a safety inspection of assigned equipment prior to operation.
Coordinate Pattern Shop functions including the repair, maintenance, development of new patterns and ensuring availability of required raw materials and supplies.
Program and operate Computer Numerical Control (CNC) machining centers and use Coordinate Measuring Machine (CMM) etc.to verify tooling features.
Assist in Analyzing Metrology results as compared to customer drawings and specifications.
Coordinate corrective action with supervisor or necessary department when Patterns do not conform to specifications.
Work with maintenance, technical, quality, molding and core personnel to minimize downtime for core making or molding related issues.
Train and schedule sufficient personnel to meet department schedules.
Provide input to supervisor about the performance of melt personnel.
Assist with ordering raw materials and supplies.
Collect and record pertinent data and enter in appropriate file or database.
Notify supervisor and other departments, as necessary, of quality, mechanical, delay or personnel problems and take corrective action within scope of responsibility.
Utilize delay time constructively by doing housekeeping or other area improvement activities.
Participate in area continuous improvement efforts including Employee Involvement activities.
Personal attendance record should remain in compliance with company guidelines.

What We Need from You:
Approach work assignments in a positive manner and function as a team member.
High school diploma or equivalent with over three years’ experience preferred.
Requires advanced shop math, complicated drawings and formulas, variety of precision measuring instruments.
Considerable judgment to plan, layout and perform difficult work with concentrated mental and visual attention.
Moderate physical exertion. Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Physical movement includes twisting, bending, and standing.
Must be willing and able to wear all required PPE (Safety goggles, hearing protections, steel-toe non-slip safety shoes, and gloves as needed when on the shop floor).
