Summary/Objective: Provide an enriched atmosphere where students learn subject matter and/or skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible members of society. Facilitate learning and guide students toward the fulfillment of their potential for intellectual, emotional and psychological growth and maturation. Provides support and services to address the students communication needs based on their Individual Education Program (IEP) Responsible to the building principal and department director where assigned.

Essential Functions
- Responsible to support the academic programming and progress of individual students and/or small groups of students with identified significant needs.
- Provide student specific personal care and support.
- Duties include, but are not limited to, assisting with daily classroom activities, assisting in data collection, sanitizing equipment and materials, and providing to the staff
- Ability to sit for long periods of time, numerous distractions, visual, auditory and ambulatory acuity important.
- Ability to move quickly from one position to another in response to student needs and upper body strength with the ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
- Assists in modifying classroom logistics for the purpose of meeting the needs of students who are deaf or hard of hearing.
- Assists students who are deaf or hard of hearing in academic and non-academic activities, individually or in groups (e.g. regular classroom, library, computer lab, cafeteria, recess, sports, music, assemblies, special events, etc.) for the purpose of presenting and/or reinforcing learning concepts.
- Tutors students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a variety of subjects for the purpose of supplementing their daily class activities and enhance learning.
- Performs other related duties as assigned for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit.
