EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
Required :
- Must be in good standing with Accredited University enrolled in Masters in Social Work program (MSW)
- Must have completed graduate coursework in school social work
- Successful completion of required trainings provided by District 6
- A combination of related education, experience, and training.
- Orientation to Sources of Strength program
- Knowledge of school systems and diverse populations
- Willingness to engage students and support peer-led initiatives

JOB DESCRIPTION
Summary / Objective : The Social Work Intern experience is comprehensive and designed to meet the academic, social, emotional and behavioral needs of students in District 6. The Social Work Intern will provide students with therapeutic services toward meeting their psychoeducational goals. This could include individual, group and family interventions to help the student achieve success in the school setting. The Social Work Intern will collaborate with outside agencies to provide effective services for students and will connect students and families to outside agencies and resources. The Social Work Intern may also assist with risk / threat assessments, safety planning, and respond to crisis situations. The Social Work Intern will have the opportunity to serve on district wide teams including Behavior Support, MTSS, Equity and Crisis Teams. Supervision is provided according to university program internship guidelines. This internship is particularly well suited for students interested in engaging with and changing peer culture and supporting student led leadership opportunities.
