Position Summary:
This position is responsible for providing landscape management labor on assigned contract maintenance and snow removal projects. This position will support the crew to deliver a quality job on time. Success in this position is indicated by reliability, safety, work ethic, and willingness to learn. This position must cooperate with other landscape management crew members to see that the overall success of the branch is met. This position is supervised by and will report to the Field Manager.
Minimum Requirements:
- Has a reliable means of transportation in order to arrive at branch office by start time, usually around 6:45 AM.
- Able to lift 50lbs and work on feet for most of the workday.
- Experience in the landscape or construction trades preferred.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Basic landscape operations include pruning, shearing, mulching, mowing, weeding, planting, watering, leaf removal, snow removal and clean up.
- Informs Field Manager of problem areas on site, equipment or supply issues, or of any accident or loss.
- Safely operates and maintains hand and power tools to perform a wide range of landscape duties which may include weed eater, stick edger, bed redefiner, backpack blower, push mower, wheelbarrow, hand tools, walk behind mowers, ride on mowers, power shears, pruners, and ladders.
- Develop a clear understanding of the philosophies by which the company operates, and the standard operation procedures for landscape management.
- Get to know coworkers in an effort to foster teamwork.
- Complies with company policies, procedures and safety requirements, especially in the handling of equipment.
- Performs all job-related tasks safely and efficiently and uses all tools and equipment in accordance with company safety policy.
Routine Duties:
- Arrive on time, in uniform prepared for the day, including drinks and lunch.
- Assists in keeping job sites, vehicles, trailers, shop, yard, and storage containers clean, safe, and organized.
- Following job site plans as shown on a map and/or instructed by Field Manager.
- Report any unsafe conditions or safety incidents to the Field Manager immediately.
Qualifications/Skills:
- High school graduate preferred, but not required.
- *Entry level position, landscape or construction experience preferred, but not required.
- *Knowledge and/or experience using level 1 routine landscape maintenance equipment including walk behind w/ velke, riding mower, push mower, backpack blower, and weedwacker preferred, but not required.
- *Knowledge and/or experience using level 2 routine landscape maintenance equipment including pole pruners/ gas shears, chain saws, and bed redefiners preferred, but not required.
- *Knowledge and/or experience in horticultural services including basic planting, pruning, and mulch preparation and installation preferred, but not required.
- Attention to details.
- Maintains a positive and flexible attitude.
- Maintains attention and concentration while performing tasks and when using equipment for an extended period of time.
