Pet Care Supervisor

Position Overview:

Green Acres is seeking a hands-on, detail-oriented Pet Care Supervisor to oversee the daily operations of the lodging department and assist with the oversight of the Daycare department, at our premier pet care facility in Madison, Wisconsin. This role is perfect for someone with professional pet care experience in a larger facility setting and prior supervisory experience.

The Pet Care Supervisor will be responsible for ensuring proper care of boarding pets, supervising staff during their shifts, and assisting in staff training. This individual will focus on leading by example, maintaining high standards of care, and ensuring that policies and procedures are followed within the lodging department.

Key Responsibilities:

Lodging Supervision & Staff Coordination:

• Oversee the daily operations of the lodging department, ensuring all tasks are completed properly.
• Train and supervise lodging staff on proper care procedures, cleaning protocols, and pet handling.
• Monitor workflow and adjust assignments as needed to maintain efficiency.
• Monitor and provide feedback on staff performance
• Ensure all shifts are covered and communicate with staff regarding calls outs and schedule adjustments

Pet Care & Safety Compliance:

• Ensure pets receive proper feeding, medication, exercise, and enrichment.
• Monitor pet behavior and health, escalating concerns to leadership or veterinary staff as needed.
• Maintain a clean and sanitary environment in all lodging areas.
• Enforce all policies and procedures related to pet care and staff responsibilities.
• Report any safety concerns or incidents to upper management.

Client Interaction:

• Communicate with pet owners regarding specific care needs or lodging-related concerns.
• Direct escalated client issues or complex concerns to upper management.
• Be willing to assist in other departments as needed.

Qualifications:

• Minimum 3 years of professional pet care experience within a lodging or daycare facility.
• At least 1-2 years of supervisory or leadership experience.
• Strong understanding of animal behavior, health, and handling procedures.
• Ability to train and supervise staff, ensuring policies are followed.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Positive references from previous employers or clients.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to stand, walk, and bend for extended periods.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
• Comfortable working in an environment with various animal species.
• Must be comfortable cleaning up after animals and performing physical activities with animals indoors and outdoors, in various weather conditions.

Work Schedule:

This is a full-time position, requiring flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and evenings.

Compensation:

• $17.00 - $20.00 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
