We are currently seeking a detail-oriented Patient Access Representative (PAR) to enhance our exceptional service.
Position Overview:
As a Patient Access Representative, you will be the first point of contact for our patients and guests, greeting them in a friendly and courteous manner. Your role will involve managing the check-in and check-out processes, ensuring accuracy in obtaining essential patient demographic information, financial information, and insurance details. You will also be responsible for securing necessary signatures and collecting co-pays. Maintaining a neat, professional appearance and an organized work area is essential to this role.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Healthcare Insurance Knowledge
- Familiarity with various insurance providers, billing practices, and authorization requirements.
2. Medical Reception Experience:
- Prior experience in a medical office or hospital setting, including handling patient check-ins and check-outs, scheduling appointments, and managing patient records.
- Ability to verify insurance coverage, collect co-pays, and explain financial responsibilities to patients.
- Skilled in using medical software systems for scheduling, billing, and patient data entry.
3. Communication and Customer Service Skills:
- Strong interpersonal skills to ensure positive interactions with patients, staff, and healthcare providers.
- Ability to handle sensitive situations with empathy, especially when discussing billing and insurance matters with patients.
4. Organizational and Multitasking Abilities:
- Efficiently manage front desk operations, from phone calls and patient inquiries to appointment coordination.
- Detail-oriented, ensuring accurate record-keeping and adherence to HIPAA and other confidentiality standards.
Qualifications:
- At least 2 consecutive years of previous medical registration experience in an emergency department setting is preferred.
- High School Graduate or equivalent.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion.
- Proficiency in computer systems and electronic health records is a plus.
