The Structural Designer Co-Op Internship involves assisting in project design and sample cutting while utilizing design software such as Esko CAD and TOPS. Interns will learn to operate cutting machinery and participate in team meetings to address design and production challenges. This role provides hands-on experience in structural design and packaging solutions, contributing to both individual learning and team efficiency improvements.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the day-to-day project design and sample cutting needs to service customers.
- Will learn / utilize design software - Esko CAD and TOPS in daily activities.
- Will learn to operate Kongsberg cutting table and table layout process to cut samples.
- Assist / attend meetings with customers as needed for new projects or current projects that are facing issues and will work with team to develop solutions.
- Attend daily New Items Meeting to get updates and understand current business status of the division.
- Monitor new as well as less efficient projects running on the production floor to discover issues between design and actual production capabilities. Work within Design Team to recommend design changes or production equipment options to maximize efficiencies.
- If ordered by customer, will be able to experience their designs going from concept through production.
- Intern will build knowledge base on both structural design and packaging needs.
- Take a tour of tooling supplier location to further understand production tooling and requirements.
Qualifications
Currently attending a college / university working towards a degree Strong problem-solving skills Excellent attention to detail Basic knowledge of Microsoft Excel Strong written and verbal communication
