Responsibilities

  • The Receiving Lead maintains a clean, safe environment enforcing safety protocols as well as doing periodic inspections of equipment and facilities to prevent accidents and hazardous situations.
  • Reporting daily safety observations and keeping the departments focus on safety.
  • Maintains an accurate record of daily moves, scanning inventory, and counting accurately. Manages the shipment and receipt of all products, materials, and supplies on their shift. Manages department staff efficiently to cover shipping and delivery needs, dock coverage and meeting the mission of the department.
  • Responsible for work performed by the Shipping & Receiving Department. This includes but is not limited to scheduling and assigning the work to be done, provide training to new employees and document that training for effectiveness. Ensure all personnel are crossed trained on all duties of shipping/receiving.
  • Coordinates and communicates with shipping/receiving forklift operators, drivers, production control managers, vendors, and others involved in the shipment and receipt of products.
  • Tracks, traces, and updates the status of incoming and outgoing shipments.
  • Maintains a clean, neat, and orderly dock and packaging areas.
  • Promptly unloads trucks and deliveries and sorts and stocks receivables. Maintaining accuracy in scanning and cleanliness of storage areas. Stepping in to cover any absences on their shift, while maintaining order as the Lead of the shift.
  • Responsible for the safe and secure movement of trailers in the yard, ensuring a constant state of organization and cleanliness.
  • Engages with vendors and drivers with a positive attitude.
  • Provides additional backup support for shipping/receiving and the production department.
  • Looks for and suggests improvements and efficiencies for the department and company.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; some technical, logistics training preferred.
  • Possesses an understanding of freight carriers, customs regulations, waste disposal (hazardous / non-hazardous), relevant forms/logs, tools, and machinery such as forklifts. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills are required.
  • Heavy lifting may be expected. Exertion of up to 50 lbs. of force occasionally may be required moving boxes and other components, but usually performed with assistance.
  • Knowledge of standard cleaning methods and procedures
  • Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours
  • Ability to perform repetitive motion for long periods of time
  • Experience with using cleaning equipment.
  • Background in handling finished product and WIP product.
  • Knowledge of occupational hazards safety rules
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to lift heavy objects.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
