What are the responsibilities and job description for the Summer Teacher position at Green Chimneys?
The Teacher is responsible for teaching a self-contained or departmentalized class during the summer.
SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Specific responsibilities include but are not limited to: ensuring that students receive related services and accommodations as outlined in the I.E.P., completing all necessary reports and documentation as per agency standards, reading, understanding and complying with policies, procedures and expectations outlined in the school and agency manuals, participating in all meetings as required and school activities, as described by program calendar including but not limited to: Open house, staff meetings, CSE meetings, Red Flag Reviews, etc., working cooperatively with all departments in our agency and communicating student concerns with the treatment team and supervisor, developing plans for effectively communicating progress of students with families, related service providers, and residential staff (if applicable), and assisting in all ways to create the best possible education program for our students. Green Chimneys offers an experiential learning environment and innovative nature-based approach that teachers can utilize to encourage success.
This position is temporary for the summer and is not benefit eligible. The daily pay rate will be within the range of $189.81 to $260.65 per day dependent upon certification status.
MINMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree & Master’s in Education preferred. Prior field placement in special education preferred. An Associates degree will be accepted if significant experience with children in a school setting can be demonstrated. NYSED Certification in appropriate area preferred.
Must be available from June 30th to August 15th (off July 4th)
